Friday went back to the vet. Got a couple appetite stimulant pills and two doses of pain medicine. They loaded him up with both before we left. By the time we got home he was a slobbering mess. I got him cleaned up and calmed down. He ate a very small amount. Then it was nap time. Despite asking for x-rays the vet felt that it would probably be a waste of money given the way he presented.
Friday afternoon I noticed that he was limping and had moments when he would just cry out. Not sure what this is all about.
Today he isn’t any better. He eats a very small amount. Haven’t seen any urine or stool since late Wednesday. That concerns me. I mentioned that yesterday but it didn’t seem to trigger any alarms.
I called for an appointment today but they were booked with appointments and had a bunch of emergencies. Yesterday as we were checking out two teenagers brought in a dog that was just hit by a car. Nice to know there is still good people in the world.
Anyway, we have an appointment for Sunday morning. If he gets worse or anything changes he will go over right away. They are there 24 hours but the after hours calls cost more and are limited to emergencies only. I know enough from what we went through with Big Boy to watch his color and breathing. Thus far all is still normal.
Blood work results came back and from that he is the picture of perfect health. I just wish that was the reality of the matter.
Right now I’m thinking he got into something, he broke or injured a leg, or he is impacted. He hasn’t been to the bathroom that we know of since Wednesday, possibly early Thursday morning. That is a long time for a person or an animal to go without at least urination. He’s drinking a little bit but mostly just lays around.
Stay tuned for more updates. I don’t know why I’m going through all of the bad right now from unemployment, sick cats, taxes and running out of money. I guess I did something that pissed off God or the Universe or something. Things have to get better soon, a person can only take so much!
