Relaxing & Boring Thursday

The kids were nice enough to let me sleep in to the ripe hour of 8:30 this morning.  Last night I decided that my sleep was suffering and I really needed to do some serious sleeping.  So I took 2 sleeping pills.  I described how I felt after taking two of these pills to a doctor and he said that is the hang over effect.  Yeah, no wonder all you want to do is sleep.

Back on topic.  I fed the kids and propped my door open then climbed back in to bed.  My bed partner (cat) joined me and we dosed off together.  I got woke up about an hour later by our mail order pharmacy, once again calling to verify our address.  I let them go to voice mail.  When I woke up next it was a little after 12 noon.  My bed partner (cat) was at my feet.  His mother was at my head and one of her daughters was sitting on my nightstand.

I got up and had Cinnamon Cream of Wheat and ate some fruit bite pastry that we picked up yesterday.  That was delicious.  Then my partner got up and had Corned Beef and Cabbage.  That is a great meal but not for breakfast.

I was in the living room with cats all around me.  There was one spot on the couch left for my partner and after he was done he joined us.  He turned on the TV and we watched the History Channel.  It was a show all about the Civil Rights Movement and the KKK.  Wow, that was sure a different time and a different way of thinking.  People say that Gay is the new black.  To an extent that may be true but I think the black people went through more torture than us Gays.  Particularly because it was about the color of their skin, which was easy to spot.  You can’t tell a gay person unless he is wearing apparel that says I’m gay.

In any case discrimination and Civil Rights violations are wrong no matter what the reason or who they happen to.  America is suppose to be the land of the free but I think that there are a lot of people that are held hostage.  Be it a gay person afraid to hold hand, kiss or introduce his male companion as his partner, boyfriend or husband.

There is no question that America has progressed and learned from mistakes made in the past.  However, there are still things wrong in the present day.  Lots of things from the budget, unemployment, poverty, homelessness, equal rights for all, and the list goes on and on.  I hope that we can turn things around for our country and that the people we elect to office will do the job we are paying them for.  I also think that every politician should work for minimum wage for a year, then they will come closer to seeing the reality of the underpaid and the poor.  It’s amazing how you can suddenly get a dose of reality and understand what it means to walk in another persons shoes.

Moving on to something less depressing.  I wanted to take a nap but just couldn’t fall asleep.  Too much noise and my partner was returning a call from this morning.  His hearing aids.  I said HIS HEARING AIDS ARE IN!  Smile

The phone message said call right away so we can get you in.  He called and they don’t have any openings until next week.  Wow, he thought he could get them tomorrow.  That would have been great because I wouldn’t have to shout so much.  Ah, well at least there is something to look forward to.

Tomorrow we are going to visit a local office complex that has been on my agenda for a little over a week.  There are signs out front that list all of the businesses that are inside.  I’m going take some notes and then e-mail or snail mail them a letter and resume.  Cold calling is how I got my first job and I haven’t given up on it, but I realize the chances today of finding a job this way are really slim.  Then were headed to the unemployment office and to the restaurant with the Groupon deal.

Today was a good day to sit inside with sweat pants on lounging around.  The weather here is wet and cold.  Who wants to go out in that if they don’t have to?

I’m suddenly hungry for a Krispy Kreme Doughnut.  I saw this photo on-line and had to share it with you.  Not only does it make me hungry for KKD but the guy in the photo isn’t bad. Winking smile

I almost forgot I saw Mr. Sickie use the litter box. Thumbs up All is working normally.  He still acts a little strange but he is eating and using the litter box.  Makes me worry a little bit less, but I still worry about him. He’s off all of the medicine that he was on at the hospital.  Now were back to the normal stuff.

That’s a wrap for Thursday!  Happy Friday and have an awesome weekend.  Here’s to health and may some wealth come my way.  I’ve been seeing a lot of 7-7-7 lately in prices that I pay for things and on TV.  I wonder if that means anything?  Maybe just that I know what the number 7 looks like.  Sort of like Cookie Monster knows what a cookie looks like. Smile

Oh I SO hear ya about your hubby's hearing aids! Mine just got his back, fixed, and it's a bit better but his TV can still get waaaay too loud.

I think your idea of politicians having to earn only minimum wage for a year ROCKS. Maybe they should also have to be "homeless" on the streets for a few nights too.

Happy to hear sickie is doing so much better!
